Sanctioned Associations

The PWSA believes in local community sport and its sanctioned activities. While the PWSA will never prevent a family from doing what it believes is best, the PWSA will always act in the best interests of its members and what it believes is the best interest for all participants in softball across Ontario at all levels through policies and procedures that promote and protect local community-based softball. 

Families are reminded that participating in softball programming offered by non-sanctioned private operators offering year-round programming will result in their athlete no longer being eligible for Team Ontario and participation in the Ontario Summer Games, Canada Games, and athletes participating in such programming will be on teams that are not eligible to participate in Provincials or Nationals.

All 2026 affiliated associations and affiliated teams are under our jurisdiction until December 31^st, 2026.

Tryouts for the 2027 season are already upon us. These tryouts are considered to be “in season” activities as they relate directly to the upcoming season. Families are reminded that attending tryouts and participation with such non-sanctioned organizations for the 2027 season will no longer be eligible to participate in sanctioned play during the 2027 season or tryouts for the 2028 season.

To remain eligible for all PWSA-sanctioned activities, athletes are permitted to participate in only the following sanctioned tryouts:

What are the benefits of being part of a sanctioned association?

• Inclusion in PWSA qualifier and championship events, once the team is affilated each season
• Ability to participate in PWSA member tournaments (Queen of Diamonds, UTM Events, Barrie Bash, Gator Classic, WMGSA Invitational, Whitby Summer Slam, Battle of the Beach, Pan Jam, etc.)
• PWSA Insurance coverage for all sanctioned softball activities
• Individual Athlete ability to participate in programs like Team Ontario
• Escalation Process for issues that may arise from time to time
