Canada Looks to Defend Gold Medal at Lima 2019 Pan American Games
Lima, Peru – The Canadian Women’s National Softball Team will begin its quest to defend its 2015 Pan American Games Gold medal at this year’s event in Peru. Team Canada will open the tournament against Puerto Rico at 10:00am local time (11:00am EDT) on Sunday, August 4.
Team Canada is coming off back-to-back bronze medal finishes at the WBSC Women’s Softball World Championships in 2016 and 2018 and will be competing in the WBSC Softball Americas – Qualification Event for the Games of the XXXII Olympiad Tokyo 2020 from August 25 to September 1. They recently completed their inaugural season as the Canadian Wild of Southern Illinois of the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) league.
The softball competition at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games will be played from August 4-10 at the Villa María Del Triunfo Sports Center and will feature a total of six teams – Canada, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, the United States and Venezuela. The teams will play a full round robin, with the top four teams advancing to the Page playoff.
